Hi all,

I’ve been restoring this e3 3.0L automatic for last 2 years. I came across these old pictures and what stood out to me was the “3.0L 6” emblem on the back, does anyone know what the 6 means? I think it’s just “new six” or the amount of cilinders. It does not look original, just like the 3 on the side of the fender. Anyways, I am sure someone in this forum knows more.

The 2.8L, 3.0L and 3.3L have a 10cm longer chassis (no idea how much this is in inches :))

One cool feature about the 3.3L is the crankshaft - in contrast to the other engines (also in contrast to the 3.3Li) it has 88.4mm lift. Nice to build a stroker engine.

Yes according to Nate Bargatze - How do you translate Centimeters to inches? "Nobody knows". :)

Thanks to you all for the replies

I was aware of the L and it’s meaning, my question was about the 6 but i suppose it’s added by one of the owners and means something like new six.

Why didn't we get the same color options as our Euro counterparts (unless this is an aftermarket color)? Yesterday at the Boston Concourse there was a Euro e24 from 1985, two tone with a kinda brown on top and grey on the bottom with those amazing herringbone cloth seats!

We got Anthracite in the 74 model year. I don’t think there were ever any two-tone e24s.
