Wow! That is pretty freaking cool! I have always wanted another race car. Something tells me that if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it LOL!

Quoting this article, and trying to sort out some history:
  • "Following a successful 1973 season, Motorsport GmbH sold E9/R1 along with its sister car, chassis 2275997, to American racing outfit Hurtig Libra Team to use in the forthcoming 1974 IMSA championship for the princely sum of DM 99,000. It proved to be a wise investment for the team, whose success with E9/R1 and its sister car during the 1974 season no doubt spurred on BMW Motorsport GmbH to compete themselves in the 1975 IMSA Championship season."

Questions:
  1. This vehicle was built after the Broadspeed E9?
  2. And since this prototype vehicle was quite successful in 1973, and under Hurtig Libra it had a good 1974 season.. this led BMW to establish their US IMSA presence, based in Hueytown, AL in 1975? (Hueytown was the home of the "Alabama Gang")

Just trying to link this vehicle & conversation into another we had about a year ago:

And another article about the '75 Sebring CSL victory:

Pete! You only live once. You gotta buy it. Haha..

Yes, built after the Broadspeed E9, as none of the official 21 Werks CSLs built from scratch for racing were built by then, this car 2276000 was the first. So standard street CSL's from the batch of early carb cars were used for testing things before the Werks cars were built. When these Werks race cars were built, they were and are completely different builds from our street cars, including the Broadspeed car.

FYI, my Factory/Werks Rallye CSL is chassis 2211342, one number before the Broadspeed car 2211343 and yet, if you believe the manufacturing dates BMW will share with you today, my Levi CSL which is 2211352 was built not only before both of these cars, but before the car claimed to be the earliest CSL alive (its not) 2211338, which was manufactured on 9th September 1971, my Levi CSL (Dutch National Racing CSL) was built 30th August 71.

Numbers and manufacturing dates are all good fun when we talk about this period for BMW :-)
