so who has a smart way to put this piece of rubber in

anybody had success with this? getting the 2 ends of the rubber into the slot. getting the outer edge in is relatively easy ... getting the next end in ... not so much. i also tried putting the inside one in first, but didn't have much success. appreciate any recommendations

Are you sliding this into the door lip?

the channel is 'C' shaped so sliding 30" of rubber will have a lot of friction.

Clean the rubber, and the channel, and lube both with some Ivory dish soap. The rubber will be a somewhat slippery, so you may want to try some of those gloves that have little sandy grit on the fingers.

nope, i've got brand new ones ... the old ones we took off were better than the ones in the FAQ thread

Try the soap technique. It provides enough lube to slide the rubber in, and it rinses off easily.

I push it in with plastic tool starting at one end, it won’t slide

Thanks Chris, which side did you push in first? The hook end or the outer end?

I think I pushed from inside. I’ve never had an issue.
