hey guys, our friend @HB Chris sent me a link about a posting of this car on facebook. this is a car that we know a bit about (see below)

overall a decent looking car, but the drivers side inner fender ??

its another created lightweight with the hood latch brackets and the prop rod and the hood latch mount locations on the back of the hood.

the car was built in July 1975 / Netherlands delivery
1980s, restored in Holland
2002 - imported into the USA
2010 ish - California auction
2011 owned by MG in the Woodlands, TX
now for sale in Houston
 
i have to agree with the consensus here, i quit looking at the pics pretty early. the ONLY things this car has going for it is the color and the fact that its a bat 2 and one of the last ones made ... other than that, not worth buying unless you were ready to spend some serious coin to set this right. i know of another bat 2 that is a whole lot better condition for not a whole lot more, definitely less than it would take to set this one right, unless you bought it for well under 200k
 
Well, I'll bring the counter-argument. One of four. Where will you find another?
I wonder if this is the car that was on the cover of Sports Car Market 15 years ago or so.
 
i know of 4 others ... whether they are ever up for sale is a different question. these are the cars i know of, not positive if they were all taiga originally.

#016 - was up for sale in 2019 <the ron perry car that bid to 280k>
#024 - was for sale in 2013 (Germany) - hood, doors + seats not original - owned in 2021 by FD (not sure of location)
#036 was for sale at Mint Classics in 2024 for 600k euro
#049 was bought by PG at Amelia Island for 260k in 2022 <that is NOT Pete Gleeson>

Poorly represented and deserving of a lower price because of it.

Who do you fire the Seller or the Owner?
 
Did they smack the left strut tower with a hammer to lower the top leading edge to avoid it coming into conflict with a closed hood?

Especially the largest bump ( with the darkest green shadow, on the bottom edge of the pic ) shows it bulging out towards the left (outside) of the vehicle. Meaning the blow must have come from the top.

I just can't make up any other mechanism that could have produced these funny bumps, while still showing original spotwelds on the inner fenders.
It doesn't look to me as if it's been hit from the side to create those bumps.
