If you can't be bothered to rebuild your own you can buy one outright here - no idea on the quality of parts used or replaced. AS in Poland sell the other type. Add a Bosch sticker for all you Salon Privé Concours event attenders. I think that just about covers everything on Alternator options in this thread
This one is 45 amps for a 2002 but bnr will make you an alternator with any output you want.
No it's not. Its listed for E3 & E9, with the correct plug, pulley and cross reference for 12311352308
This is AS of Poland's product with the other style of connection. You can go direct for a better price.
I believe the e9 was 55 amps and 2002 for sure is 45 amps unless I am mistaken.
I bought an internally regulated one on Amazon, drilled out the mounting bolt hole, left the original regulator in place for appearances, and modified the harness to connect the D+ to the dash light bulb circuit. While I was at it, I added a resistor to that circuit to perk up the alternator excitement function so the light goes out promptly upon startup.
Interesting - can you elaborate how you wired this?
@Shopteacher yes, I'd like some more detail on this as well. Beginning this changeover this weekend, finally got all the various pumps, pulleys, etc. Any info you can provide on the modification to the harness would be appreciated as well
