I got my 71 over 20 years ago it had been hit in the front and took me over 10 years to get it back on the road. Before I got it the car it had been switched from auto to 5 speed. There are lots of unconnected wires around the coil. I noticed in my repair manuals a green wire from the negative side of the coil going to a speed relay and revolution relay. Is one of these involved with the tach? Can I run a wire from the negative side of the coil straight to the tach? Any ideas would be appreciated. I have a 73 auto but the setup does not look quite the same. I have switched instrument clusters before.

thank you
Here is what my wires look like

May I recommend a new coil while you are at it. That thing looks ancient. I'll take a pic of mine this AM and send to you for further help.

thanks for the suggestion I have at least three new coils in my parts stash, I recently retired so I am trying to do more on my two E3's. It does run well but it sits outside under a car cover

I have an Allison electronic ignition installed hence the extra wires. Hopefully this helps somewhat.
