Snapped off A/C compressor bracket bosses on my 3.5L M30B34

Hello all! I have this unfortunate situation of snapped-off A/C compressor bracket bosses on my 3.5L M30B34 engine in my 1973 E9. I am told that a forum member has made custom brackets that use the side-facing bosses to attach a modern Sanden compressor - I hope that is true? Please advise me. Thanks, Alex

the best bet is the WC Layne bracket - look it up in the FAQ - top sources. in order to mount it, you need the BMW wing cell bracket. i have this on my euro b34 engine and it fits great.

His bracket mounts to an e28 wing cell bracket to the block, it might work.

Find one used. wing cell bracket: part # 64-52-1-284-953

Looking for one now - I will have to somehow attach it to the block without the snapped-off "ears." I may have to fabricate my own bracket that uses the side-facing tapped bosses.

I see that the bracket attaches tio the block using the side bosses along with the front-facing bosses (missing on my block). I will have to come up with a work-around for that.

But M8 and M10 holes in block are still good? How did that snap off? Prior owner?

The side facing holes are good, just the two front-facing bosses are snapped off - was that way when I bought the car. Please see the picture at the beginning of this post.

if i remember correctly, the wing cell bracket mounts like this. but in looking at the drawing, it also bolts into the 2 missing bosses
