M90/dogleg/3.07lsd drop out.

Absolutely; the facelift from Series 1 to Series 2 appeared in May '82. Besides trim updates etc. there was a major change in the backbone technology as the Series 1 was still based on the E12 while the Series 2 used suspension parts, engines, etc. from the E28 (very simplified description :)).
I had two Series 1 and two Series 2. Were about to buy a Series 3 but that did not happen.
Very nice cars, but especially the Series 1 is comparable to the E9 when it comes to rust problems; at least in ny experience...
Yes, rust is an issue with this shell I acquired. It also has been repaired and repainted in the past. There is a lot of bondo on the cowl, and rust bubbling up in random places.

The '78 that I'm restoring spent its entire life in GA and SC, so its very rust free. The problem with my doors is the multitude of little dings. Given that I want the mirrors from this car, the glass is good, the doors are ding-free, the exterior trim is good, both door handle gaskets are intact and I'll be swapping the door cards, I might just change the locks and swap both doors from this car.

As to the seats, alas the Series 1 cars did not have the recaros, but instead had flatter wider seats that are very similar to the coupe seats.

Glad to hear it’s going to be used.

The drivetrain is available. Pics coming of everything in the next day or two.
I got several m90s available.

Would prefer to sell as a set but willing to separate.

Got our second baby due May 28th, would love to have these gone by then.

Another Series 1 vs Series 2 exterior detail you see on your pics: side mirrors were painted on the Series 2 cars while they were chrome on the Series 1 cars.

I am no expert on e24 but I think the only later cars (e28 based) that got body colored mirrors were euro M635s and US M6s. My old 84 euro had chrome mirrors and my current 85 euro has painted mirrors. A previous owner added the M635 air dam, painted mirrors, and US M6 rear spoiler when they painted the car in 2011.

Seems like too much time went by since my own E24 years... You are right, there were still chrome mirrors on many series 2 E24. However, the painted version is not limited to M635 and M6 to the best of my knowledge: Cars with M-Technic kit from factory (available from 85) and cars with shadowline (available from 86 but only with select colors) came with painted mirror caps. Furthermore, I think all series 3 cars built from 87 to 89 had no longer chrome mirrors.
I don't know if it was the same for the US market...
Thanks for pointing out, seems like I mixed it up with the E23... Where only the steel nose series 1 had chrome and afterwards they changed it... Sorry.
