yet another 3.0cs on BaT - 1973 <metallic gray> VIN 2240419

in looking at the ancestry project - it was at the Werk Shop (on website) in 2010. other than that, build date was 11/21/1972

And then there were six all of a sudden on BAT! Including two CSLs. Holy coupe-a-rama batman! Lots of choices for every taste and budget it seems!

the pictures are terrible. if you are going to sell a car (or try to sell) on BaT, you are much better served to take great pictures. my guess was that it was originally polaris and the owner decided to paint the car a color that would go with the yellowed polaris in the engine bay. the color kind of looks like anthrazit, but not really

I saw this car at the Werk Shop when I visited about doing a 2002. then again online when sold by Autosport Design in NY I think. It’s a gray/green metallic. Unique. You can see pics on the Werk Shop site.

Makes me wonder (as a potential seller) - that if you are working with them on listing a car on BaT and you ask them what they cars of the same or similar type that they have coming in the near future (that could/would compete with yours) - I wonder if they would answer or not...

when you look at all of the Porsche + Ferrari cars listed at the same time, you get it ... they believe that if you have more things to choose from at the same time, they will get more cars sold. i would worry as a seller that it might bring more people watching, but limits the people bidding if they are trying to get a better car. my opinion is - sell a great car with great photos and great response to bidders questions and you will end up with a good result in most cases. if you aren't going to do that as seller, then pay somebody like @HB Chris to get it done.

Good question! I asked this very question of BAT when selling one of my cars. They said they "try to space them out so that not as many are on auction at the same time". For what it's worth.

That car has always looked green to me. Agree that it really doesn't go with the blue interior (especially with the white piping). I love the staggered BBS RSs but, man oh man, he's paid the price for not getting the fenders rolled.

You can pay a photographer through them as well. Relatively inexpensive in the grand scheme of $50k+ cars. I think I paid about $200 or $250 for pictures on a car I sold through BaT. As an advantage, they transfer the pics directly to BaT... BaT also gives the photographer a rundown of the types of pictures and a quantity to take.

This looks much more like a green than a gray to me too, especially the Werks Shop pics.

The coupe looks like it is sitting at a fairly stock height (not lowered). Going to a lower profile tire will help with the rubbing. I have 17" BBS wheels (not staggered), stock ride height and zero rubbing. I've been told my many knowledgeable coupe owners that 17's don't work without rolling fenders, but that is simply not the case. "They" say it won't handle properly. It handles just fine, I actually have a hard time even getting them to squeal at off ramps, on ramps, cornering etc. I was told (I think I have this right) that the height ride should be a 1/2" taller in the rear axle than the front axle. Mine is 1/4" and I think unless racing or tracking the car it is not noticeable. I don't drive as aggressive as I used to so works fine for me on the lower pro's. Sure it's a stiffer ride, but not terrible by any means.

It also doesn't have that nice stance/tucked look, but at the same time doesn't look terrible.

Pics 108 and 132 show the door card beading is in place. This is missing on many Coupes on BaT and ones I've seen at shows. The pics also show the buffers are missing on both door latches. Those $5 plastic parts prevent having to slam the doors closed every time you open them.

Can you please elaborate on this? Are you referring to what looks like piping or welting around the door card? I'm in the middle of having my interior redone and I'd like to make sure it's done correctly. I don't remember anything like that when I removed the door cards.

yes, its welting between the door and the door panel. there is a drawing in the FAQ for the piping in post 18 of the thread

i have attached the pdf. there are 8 piping pieces. the thin diameter ones go on the door, the thicker diameter ones go on the front kick panel and the rear side panels

Scott has explained the welting/piping quite well. Pics #108 and 113 show the pieces covering the gap between the wood trim and the metal door. If your welting was missing, you would have seen a gap there.
I had the welting attached to the back of the door card by my upholsterer. The stock method has the welting in the drawings as a separate piece between the door card and the vapor barrier plastic if I recall. The welting is only on the vertical sides of the front and back of the door card and extends along the bottom curve of the door card.
I hope you can find a coupe that has them so you can have your interior guy make them about the diameter of a #2 lead pencil.
