As some of you know I have a 72 CS that's Sahara and a 74 CS that's Turkis and I call it Sixto. I've recently posted WTB a brass and chrome rear panel under the license plate. I have also decided to sell Sahara on BaT in September. In getting ready to sell it I'm surveying it to make sure every little detail looks good. Both Coupes have the rear panel with the fog cut out. Sahara is a US delivery but I liked the integrated rear fog light so much I bought one and the panel for it about 15 years ago. It's a dummy but I think it looks good. While polishing up Sahara's back side I realized that the rear panel on it matched up with the chrome on the tail lights much better than Sixto's did. On close inspection, it turns out, I have an aluminum panel that, I think, has been chromed. Keshav filled me in on the fact that there are 3 different panels. There's the original brass with chrome, the polished aluminum one and the one on Sahara that's chromed aluminum. I did the magnet test on it and it is non ferrous.
So since Sahara is leaving, probably, and Sixto is staying there's going to be a swap of the panels- thank you Sahara.
Having said all that I'll still be on the lookout for a brass/chrome one but the new panel is definitely a better match.
Regards, Jon
