Does anybody have suggestions for painting a valve cover? I thinking about painting it silver.
Powder coated and sanded as @e9Leveque suggests:I used ASCO in Manassas to powder coat my valve cover.
This is a very nice option I hadn't really been aware of when I did mine.the other option is to vapor hone it and then put cerakote clear on it. that looks like a brand new valve cover.
That sounds too easy….now why didn’t I think of that when I powder coated mine?We ask our powder coater to apply and then wipe off the raised sections- no sanding
I once heated up the headlight assemblies from my e39 sedan in the oven. The headlight adjusters, like many things in the e39, were made from plastic that was not designed to last the life of the car. When they go, not only does this make it impossible to adjust your headlights, the beams will actually move around when you hit bumps. So, I sourced a set of aluminum replacement adjusters and proceeded to heat my headlight assemblies in the oven so that I could separate them and make repairs.Rattle can wrinkle finish and hand sanding. It might not last, however. I did this 53 years ago..... My wife did not like the idea of me cooking the valve cover in the oven back then....That's how you got that wrinkle finish.
My Korman engine's valve cover was vapor honed and then satin epoxy finished with the details proud.
