FS: I have the hard to find VGS Intake Manifold along with a Triple Solex 40 ADDHE Carb set-up with throttle body. There is a catch however. As far as I can tell, one of the intakes (far left, second intake in on first pic) has a hairline crack and a couple of small pitts (Pics will be provided). AND, the back plane that attaches to the motor is not 100% flat (I am told from my restorer). Meaning it would need to be planed flat. He was afraid if tightened to block it may crack if left alone. Probably not a huge deal and should be fairly straight forward fix, however the hairline crack running on the inside of the plenum and around to the outside is a bigger issue. The other intakes look ok to my eye, but I don't want to say 100% sure. I will be posting a series of pics in this thread to show all this.

I am told the manifold can be welded, ground down and finished smooth somehow. It is aluminum and will be tricky with the older porous aluminum. IDK, I'm not a welder. Happy to have anyone chime in on this. I bought this with the intention of putting triple side-drafts on my coupe until these flaws were discovered. This was not disclosed to me when I bought the set up. But wait, there's more! The Solex Carburetor's were supposed to be rebuilt. Now, I don't think they have been or if they have, they will need to be rebuilt or put some Weber's on there. The Carbs have tabs missing (cut off) to accommodate the throttle body and some of the holes are no longer threaded (see pics). The throttle body itself seems fine but I am told is nothing special, dime a dozen. The first pic here is the most current pic. I added the cold start tabs and springs. I am told you don't need to run these but they are there if you want to. ID tag is on middle carburetor and I took a close up of it with a PDF write up on this model attached.

I paid a lot of money for the initial set up (minus the SpeedHut A/F Gauge, new shorter 43mm long trumpets (40mm intake), 40mm Resin isolators, and SS Push-fit mesh Trumpet Gauze to fit 40mm from the Carburettor/Dellorto Shop. There are links to the original eBay ad and Dellorto Shop link you can find the parts on. I will post screenshots of prices I paid for all that and the SpeedHut gauge.

It's a very long story but I want my disaster to maybe go to someone that knows what this VGS intake is and be able to fix and use it. It came from Poland (nobody on here) so I dealt with a really bad PayPal Euro Conversion Rate (as I bought outside of eBay, stupid I know), shipping, and at the time, high tariffs. I paid close to what the original asking from of $3K was after all said and done (just for the Vintage VGS Intake, carbs and throttle body). Not counting the SpeedHut gauge, new trumpets, etc. Again, I will post screenshot of prices I paid.

I am just trying to recoup some losses here and will be VERY realistic on prices for all.

That is the background for you to consider an offer if interested. I want to be completely transparent and will pack and ship for you if bought as package deal. ANY reasonable offer will be considered. If no takers, I will sell the shorter trumpets, isolators, trumpet gauzes and SpeedHut gauge separately. See thread for more pics of when I bought the setup and other current pics along with screenshots of pricing.

Here is a simple breakdown of what I paid:
VGS Setup "AS-IS" - Call it $3,000.00
https://www.ebay.com/itm/167646761513

SpeedHut NEW A/F Gauge - $371.79 (see screenshot pic below). Also note, these took a few weeks for shipping as they are all "hand finished." You will not need to wait.
Carburettor/Delorto Shop Misc Parts - $572.75 (see screenshot pic below)
More pictures of VGS Intake incoming.

I want to emphasize, I will NOT be offended by any offer for the VGS set up.

I would like to get as close to what I paid for the SpeedHut gauge and Carburettor Shop parts listed my cost and shipping but no tariff listed. I forget how much that was but it wasn't cheap. I would be willing to sell at my cost and I pay for shipping (continental US) but that can be discussed later if it doesn't sell as a package for everything.

I can provide more pics and measurements if necessary.

I wanted to thank all the members that showed interest in this and for someone to buy the setup. I am hoping they are able to fix it and get it on their coupe! I am very sad to see it go as it was a dream since HS to have a coupe with triple side-drafts but in my case it wasn't meant to be. The person that bought this has a much better jumping off point price wise to get this to work. I'm happy, hopefully they are and will be happy once fixed and up and running; life goes on.

As far as the SpeetHut A/F gauge and all the trumpet/velocity stack stuff, I still have those and will list separate with a discounted price I can live with later as separate ads so it is not confusing all lumped in like this was. Figured it was worth a shot for a complete package but all good. Thanks again guys, love this board and you guys make it special!

Good news.

There are other manifolds out there. Don't give up.
Hey Chris, hes there are...however I have such a bad taste in my mouth dealing with this last one for about a year back and forth with the PO, the money I spent that I will no longer recover, having to buy three new or rebuilt Webers', probably having to get a Tii brake booster, I am totally over it. To me it wasn't meant to be when I run into problems like this. It's not worth my health suffering anymore than it already has.

All said and done restarting all this it would be the most expensive build cost in history for a side-draft setup. I'm tired of being that guy. The coupe has been tuned, valves adjusted, and is running and now starting much better with the recent install of an electric fuel pump. I was experiencing vapor lock on hot days and I am hoping the way we rerouted the fuel lines away from heat sources, new lines, regulator, check valves, etc. that I should no longer have that issue with the Weber downdrafts.

It was getting frustrating with the car getting fuel starved and motor quitting usually in the worst possible spot (no shoulder, busy traffic, etc.). I was always able to drive home on my own power after letting motor cool, spraying some starter fluid in the carb, etc. But a minute seems like 10 when in those situations. You can't rush it or the fuel just keeps evaporating. I appreciate the encouragement but I have learned when to throw in the towel at this age. I am not a very patient person in the first place and these cars sometimes push my limits. Cheers mate - S
