hi,
i think i know the answer to this question (no), but thought id try before taking my dash apart - Is is possible to adjust the clock in place?

i guess i should have been more clear - my clock is slow, they are adjustable via a screw in the back, can this adjustment screw be accessed without removing the clock?

Oh. Ok. In that case, you need to be a tiny contortionist with small hands to get behind the cluster without removing it. Last time I tried to do something similar, I ended up getting foot prints on the headliner.
 
You can remove the clock without removing other instruments but as x_atlas0 stated, tiny hands help. Remove under dash cover, loosen two thumbscrews (or one if you are lucky), unplug wires, twist, and then rotate it fifteen different ways until it will drop down. And have a supply of antiseptic and band-aids after as well! The question would then be, how much to adjust unless you leave it hooked up to a power supply on the workbench. When reinstalling, pre-tighten one of the screws so you don't have to reach for it, just tighten the remaining accessible screw.
 
the manual states that the screw is also under a piece of tape which adds to the challenge...

Not to insult your intelligence, but I assume you have an early clock? I.e. a non-quartz clock? The quartz clocks cannot be adjusted (and, to my knowledge, they either keep perfect time, or don't run at all).

I have removed my gauges a few times, and am skeptical that a mortal can remove the clock alone. I always remove the gauges L to R. So the clock being the rightmost gauge, I can only access it once the fuel/temp, tach, and speedo are already out.

HBChris' comment about pre-tightening the rightmost screw that secures the clock is critical for re-installation.
 
I recall going R to L, starting from the clock. You do want to have it out on a bench to adjust because it may take quite a few days to know if the adjustment is final. Unless they make some frequency counter that shows the clock accuracy from the tick-tock frequency. I am sure professionals have something like that.
