Does anyone know of data logging software (or complete system) that can access real-time engine data from the Motronic 1.3 ECU on the M30B35 engine I am putting in my CS? I know error codes can be read with 5 punches of the accelerator pedal but this is not real time data.

Thanks.

The only real-time data observation system I have seen that works with OBD-I BMW hardware is a GT1, but that is for diagnostic use only. The Porsche guys may have some special tools for this, though, as the 911, 928, and 944 ran the same Bosch control hardware.

Depends on what you want to log and what you're doing. Yes, there are systems out there for Porsche, etc. that use unused pins, etc. But your limited to what's there and the maps/ math and the size of your wallet. ( Not cheap.)

Even Bosch sells now; has since 2005. You're likely going to have to piggy back another system (MS, Autronic, etc.) on top of the motronic and be adding more advanced devices. I've only heard of particulars like a tricked M90 to find a base tune.

If you can explain a little , maybe there's a better answer.

Miller chip

I have a miller war chip in my mot 1.3, and think it has capabil for data logging, not sure about real-time adjusting though.

No real time logging or feedback from the miller chip. Their software (I have their chip in my E28 8) is really just a fancy front end to input and change ignition and fuel maps and then download them to your chip. You can have 4 different "tunes" active to choose from via a selector knob which is handy, i.e. track tune, econo tune, kill tune, etc. You need Dyno time or a wideband sensor and logging software to get the data to enter to get the tune optimized. Took me about an hour on the Dyno with the Miller chip on my E28 (run, analyze, change, download, repeat).

The Miller gear is handy and very effective for what it is but it does not have the neat features you get, i.e. autotune, with Megasquirt or other aftermarket systems.

There are lots of options out there for wideband sensors and logging software.
