I've been dealing with a nice guy (Wouter) from Lakewell in Belgium who supply repro interior trim, including carpets, for various classics.

Currently their range is limited to LHD but he's going to use my original front footwell carpets as template for a RHD range.

Price is reasonable at euro330 plus taxes, colour match looks ok (black-grey fleck), can't comment on quality until I receive them in about a month. Then I'll let you know more - unless anyone has experience of their LHD products ?

Hopefully the sample you get looks better than the photos. They look like a thin inexpensive material. They claim to match factory specs but look at the heel pads.

so who has good carpet kits in the USA? i got some samples from world upholstery - they looked ok, not great.

GAHH. I put their square weave in my '69 2002. Excellent quality and they have the German/import loop for the coupes. Wayne K is considering them for his resto in the salt and pepper black color. They will send you samples.

I know on the 2002 FAQ forum, many seemed pleased with Esty's carpets. I Think she has done an E9, but not sure of originality, etc.

I must admit I was underwhelmed by the pictures on Lakewell's website but a quick google of "Lakewell carpets" revealed very happy customers for a Jag XJC, TVR and 911. Just to be sure I'll also get a sample first.

I'll keep you posted...

Any update on the carpets? Have they arrived and do they fit?

There's a slight delay in the ordering process - my original carpets had been moved into the boot/trunk by the previous owner ahead of sill/rocker repairs. When I sorted them out the provide a template to Lakewell, the critical RH drivers-side bulkhead carpet was missing

I posted a thread asking for friendly RHD owners to post me a paper template. I've had 1 kind offer and am just waiting for his work committments to give him access to his car !

In the meanwhile I did get a sample from Lakewell and they seem decent quality. As does the feedback from other car marques on a google search.

Once I get the template, will let you know how carpets turn out.
Fred - I'll be in Sydney late January with work if I don't get a UK template by then ...

CSL carpet?

What type of carpet are you looking to put in your coupe (I assumed CSL based on your signature), the lightweight type or the standard carpet as in a CS or CSi?

If you're looking for the lightweight CSL carpet, check with Gerrit- he does them for the LHD cars and I would assume he can do the RHD as well:

Just checked out the lakewell website and if that light grey carpeting is suppose to mimic the original black/grey material, then it is not a very good match. Just too much light grey and not enough black flecks, it should be the other way around...mostly black with grey flecks. Their workmanship looks good though.

Rich,
How are the carpets? Is the quality any good? How about some photos.
cheers
Fred
