if you have a toolbox clamshell in reasonable or repairable shape that you are willing to sell for a reasonable price, i am posting for a friend who is in need.

please send some pix and a price.
thanks

New clamshell

I wonder what it would cost to make a die and manufacture new ones.
It seems that there would be a market for a tool box clamshell that we could actually put our tools into routinely.

Di we have any plastic fabricators in the group?

Injection molds that size would easily cost over $100,000. Anyone got those kind of bucks sitting around we could use for tooling?

Can we buy the original molds from BMW in Munich? They are not using them and we know they don't throw away anything.

Let's send DeQuincey in a mold finding mission.

Ian,

i have no idea if they are the same. please send me some pics to scottperkins <at> bellsouth <dot> net. also let me know how much you want for it.

Speaking of making replacement tool trays.....I see no reason to try to duplicate a crappy design.....
I've been thinking about making a mold and building a composite replacement (f'glass or Carbon...) cover
Still just a daydream..... but definitely do able....

tool tray

I've got a spare tooltray with most of the tools.
tools have some surface rust (HEYCO), 2 red handled screwdrivers,
14 wrenches, etc. the plastic threaded closure is broken, but it's smart to replace that with a metal thread anyway.
200$ plus shipping. e-mail if interested and I'll try to send a pic.

Bluebeem interested in the tools..

I am interested in your tool kit and screw drivers...
