Source for Bumper Mounting Bolts

Looking for the bolts that mount the bumper 'arms' to the body/chassis, 4x needed?

Not listed in RealOEM, but here's a link

i recall them being conventional hexagonal headed bolts
the head enters in a sort of slot to avoid spining while tightening the nut
the set is bolt + flat washer + grower washer + nut
i do not remember the length of the bolt, but probably it was M8, so measure the chassis arm and add 4mm for the bumper support and 10mm for the washers+nut and that will be the length

then when you go to the hardware shop ask for 8.8 quality, M8 bolts and the desired length, yes there are four sets

According to the original orange parts book, for the pre 73 bumpers, the bolts used were M8X20mm. These were probably carriage style bolts that slot fitted into the outer sides of the 2 engine support rails. As to how the factory fitted these bolts inside the rails, it will be good to know. If these bolts were to somehow drop into the rails during work to change out the bumper support brackets, they will surely be impossible to retrieved. Suppose when this happens, the only remedy is to drill though the other side of rail and use longer bolts long enough to accommodate the thickness of the rails and mounting brackets. Believe the 73 bumper mounting brackets utilized this longer bolt (M8X70mm) installation method.

Bert,

In that case it's just like the 2002, carriage head slides in a slot in frame rail, wouldn't think it could fall into frame.

I just happened to have my front bumper and brackets off the car. The bolts are basically a short carriage bolt. I have included a picture for reference and sizing.
