Has anyone ever put an E9 body on an E24 Chassis?

E9 Specs:
Wheelbase 103.3
Width 68.1
Track (front) 57.9
Track (rear) 56.1

E24 Specs:
Wheelbase 103.3
Width 67.9
Track (front) 56.3
Track (rear) 57.6

Seems like it would work, just wonder if anyone has attempted it before.

I've pondered putting the e24 rear in the e9 - can't see why you would do the rrest, a lot of work. There is a later M series with a e9 body on it for six figures but I'm too iPhone challenged to find it.

They are both unibody cars so the body and chassis can't be separated.

I suppose you could cut and weld parts of each car together but you wouldn't gain anything. The better approach would be to strip down the E9 shell, discretely strengthen it and then upgrade the suspension, brakes, driveline, etc.

Oh, and rustproof it!
