Draleu Alu Rad test

I just installed mine about a month ago and it does look great.
Got rid of the stock fan and installed a 16" Fle-a-lite electric fan on a/c radiator side, looks much cleaner now.

It's gonna be 118*f here in Vegas today so I'll be hiding indoors. :)

Plus I've been having overheating issues ever since I started tinkering with the distributor. Car ran fine before but now it starts to creep up near red zone after about 15mins of driving at idle.

What is your vacuum advance at idle?

I started out at 10am and it was about 85 degs. Everything ran fine . Temp gage stayed at the 4 o'clock mark and no fan ( electric ). I stopped in a shady spot and let the car cool down.
Coming home was 108 degs. The temp went up to 1/2 half , 3 o'clock mark. It ran there fine for some time..
It did creep up over the 1/2 and I did get some pinging when I accelerated, lol I pinned it. That may be from the chip that I'm running. 1.3 179 ECU ... It always ran a bit hot with the old Radiator.
Question for the pros , can the chip cause the motor to run hot and make it ping?

I'm ready

Money well spent

I would say that you need to get your mixture check ASAP! It sounds like you could be running lean which will cause ping and increased heat. This could be caused by your fuel pump struggling to keep up or an over advanced ignition. Either way your valves and pistons won't be enjoying it!

High under hood temps change everything.....air density....time to park the coupe and drive an expendable until things cool down. You can check by using the Fluke and the temp probe leads to the air box....over 140 F is a killer according to sfdon who has done the homework when he set/sets up up Silver State race machines. I agree with his findings. I want to see no more than 110 F under hood at cruise. Your ambient temps are crazy high guys.

If I remember right I had it at the dot with Z mark on flywheel which I counted was 7 teeth marks from TDC. I also pulled the vacuum line and was running at 1,700rpm. This was done over a month ago but will double check again when temps drop but that won't be for a month or two.

If you can run a 02 sensor and see what the reading is at WOT.
If it goes lean you should advance your timing and check again

Mike Goble and I are both wondering whether his timing is severely retarded.
High temps are a sign of retard.
Lean readings at WOT throttle can be retard.
Advance the timing and check the 02 sensor -
