I've not seen this topic presented before; maps of fun, fast, un-famous drives. (perhaps my memory fails me; better my memory than my brakes!)

Create a map of a great drive near you, and post it for us all; name the locale in the Title. Maybe there is already a web site of these, not already famous/read/saturated by coppers and ricers??

I'll start; from my house in Sonoma CA wine country (start where-ever, stop in here for a glass of wine if you are in the neighborhood ph 707-576-7250), through the coastal mountains, to the Pacific Coast, up Coastal Hwy 1, and back along the Russian River. Winery stops optional (I highly recommend the Korbel Champagne tour), ending at the Kendall Jackson Winery tasting room near Hwy 101, an hour north of San Francisco. Its much wigglier than it looks with a Sharpie pen! 90 minutes full-throttle, no stops. I defy you to not stop and look at the views!

Day 2; Calistoga in Napa County to Lake County straight up Mt St Helena Hwy 29, and back. Twice; its much faster the 2nd time. 30 min each way, except for getting stuck behind wine-tasting-weaving-Winnebagos.

coupe74, i'm sure you've driven along the russian river. i'd love to see a pic of a coupe on the wohler bridge over the russian river. driving along river road, westside road, etc. down martinelli road and on up to iron horse vineyards for a glass of sparkling wine with a commanding view.

We did a tour through the area when we were in Rohnert Park for a BMW CCA Octoberfest a few decades ago. Nice roads along the coast. Beautiful area. Lots of really big trees.

hwy 175

If you're heading south on 101 to wine country, try HWY 175 outta Hopland, over to hwy 29/Clear Lake area, then south descending into Calistoga.

Lotsa very fresh pavement in the north state being put down.

;-)
