BMW Day in Boston today, the concours hosted by the BMW CCA Boston Chapter.

The best fun of the day however was not had at the event... oh no.

The drive back from the event to a BBQ with fellow E9 enthusiasts through sunny Boston, along the Charles River and then...

Photo opportunity.

This was easily the weekend of the summer weatherwise, just perfect. Duane was the terrific host post BMW day putting on a great meal for Tom (Vbigdog), Stan and me. He also just happens to have a 4 car garage as well (in Charlestown!) where our coupes remained safe and under cover.

A good day had by all.

Next up: Lime Rock on Labor Day.

I think you could cram another couple of E9's in there. Nice garage, with some beautiful content.

yea, that could have been my spot :(
Sorry guys. I obviously didn't make it down, I had too much work to do up here.
We really need to do a cruise before hibernation begins.

Mako - wished you could have joined us.

7 x E9s made the event this year.

Missing this year include Mako, Rob Siegel, Neal Heffron, BFeng,

Some day we will gather a cool dozen coupes together.

Then drive through the 1mile tunnel under Boston at full noise!!

Missing in action

Duane,
Thanks for the encouragement. Coupe has been at VSR since purchase, awaiting bumper conversion. I didn't have space for it at home anyway as the E-type didn't leave for it's new home till late July. Mario has a few pretty ambitious ideas about the drivetrain that might be doable over the winter. The rest of this year is pretty much shot as well unless you guys are going to Lime Rock for the historic festival (I only go on Saturday for the races) or Watkins Glen Grand Prix festival (following week). After that, it's strictly Jag events and Skip Barber again.

Work is over rated....
Beer and barbecue however. Mmmm
And the grilled summer squash from Tod was terrific too!
Thanks Duane

ride height

We measured to the trim band and I think it was 27" on the front wheel

Actually the ride height of the 4 x E9s in the garage from the floor to the chrome beltline trim are as follows;
* 28.5" Duane with the Alpina B2 springs setup
* 29.5" Stan and Todd with the Carl Nelson springs setup
* 31.5" Tom with the stock setup (that won't last long given his plans :-) )

Now this is interesting.

I measured 28.5" to the bottom edge of the beltline trim (good idea to reference the beltline) with Suspension Techniques lowering spring kit that is NLA.

Mario has these ideas ? . . . . mmmmmm, only fueled by customers wishes ...
about that 4.0 liter stroked S38 with slide throttles . .

Mario

Mario's ideas

I thought it was either a used 3.5 or we were going to talk about a motor built by a company whose name starts with an "A"

Hopefully, I'll have bumper parts to you by the end of the month and then we'll be rolling on this project!
