Originality vs Convenience

choke, choke ... $53 for a tire shine product.

Anticipating dQ i hate shinny tires, reminds me of used car dealerships.

Also rubber is associated with grip and friction, shine and gloss simbolizes smooth and slippery.

Shall we talk about men's hair gel now?

16's

Stan,
At this point 2 weeks into custodianship, and without any suspension modifications (yet) the difference between the 14" Alpina's with recent tires and 16" Coupe King knock-off Alpina's with Bridgestone Potenza RE11a's was remarkable.

You are welcome to test drive mine for a bit on the way home from LRP if you like.
Tom

I have Alpina open face wheels on my car, if I ever sell the car I have a set of 5 original alloys and NOS center caps that will go with the car. I also modified the center console and the window switch plates but again I have original unmodified pieces. Long story short, keep your old wheels and center caps.

What funny about the newer / older conversation...

I fell in love with a 1970 2800CS in 1973 that was owned by the Dean of the college of Architecture at UC Berkeley. This car had been modified by Hardy and Beck (US Alpina distributor based in Berkeley) and wore their 16 rims. Dropped / air dam it was gorgeous. And...old school. A 1970CS tweaked in 1973. Can't debate provenance and looks.

If it looks like it ran in the day...old school is old school. And period correct. No debate.
