On the new thermostat that I'm installing I was told to drill a 1/4 inch hole to prevent air bubbles; where do you drill that hole?

Hi Peter... I believe it's at the highest point possible when thermostat is positioned in its housing. Like 1:00 position on the flat inset surface of the thermostat to allow air to seep through from one side to the other. Someone can confirm this to be correct... I think there's also another posting where someone highlighted the right spot!

a 2mm hole at 12:00
be careful to drill it in the place of the sleeve that will be touching the water, not in the part of the sleeve that is in contact with the gasket :mrgreen:

The thermostat in my coupe had about a dozen holes wish I kept a picture.

Armed and dangerous

Now that I have pictures and a full explanation of exactly why I am doing what, I feel at least one master's degree smarter! This coupled with the explanation of the multi-purpose chrome wheel moldings puts me way ahead of where I was when I did not know what a Roundel was... Seriously!
