Hi All,

Does anyone know interchangeable parts between E9 and any other BMWs which could save me a little dosh???

Or willing to buy second hand working parts

thanks

Where are you?
Here in Nor-Cal we have a supplier with dozens of good used radiators stacked high in piles.

An E24 wiper motor worked for me from pick n pull. Very close to E9. Minor mod needed on plug receptacle end / location and can share pics/explain if interested. $30 at pnp vs $200 used from salvage dealer or $300 new. Choices - compare part # on realoem.com between models to confirm...

There is an E24 wiper motor on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E24-G...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27d12c41b4 this should get you started off and wiper arms should be pretty easily solve by a trip to the scrap yard and measure up the rough length the spline fitting is same size on lots of different cars so just need a straight are right size spline and approx length then you can ensure clean sweep for MOT with new blades

Good l;uck

Your welcome

Hook fitting is the 'newer' type wiper arm where a plastic piece slides up into a reversed hook like slot on the wiper arm, on older cars they were just straight and the wiper blade fitted onto the end of the straight arm .

See attached pictures to hopefully explain this a little better.

Regarding length go to the scrappers and take with you approx measurements of your windscreen and a tape measure, once you find a car with approx the same width and height screen within an inch or 2 then the arms from this should do you SO LONG AS the splined receptical is the same size as your splined drive wheels.

If you get hoked arms you are then basically free to get different length blades which will allow a good sweep of your windscreen without overrunning and onto the roof rubber or paintwork.

Its not an exact science or a purist fix but it should get you away and through an MOT.

I'm not at home at present so cannot measure mine to advise any better sorry

Cheers

Picture of my car below attached for any reference, showing approx how long the blades need to be in relation to the car offside window / door pillar
Hope this helps
