how does the handbrake wire attach?

here is a picture from my search - my wire was laying on the floor of the car (brown / blue) feeding from the drivers side harness that runs from front to back. the wiring diagram shows a cable end that is attached to the switch. my curiosity is where? i see it going under the spring switch

Does it look like your wire has solder on it that broke away?

mine has a piece of bare wire end - no solder on it anywhere. does it solder onto the end (twist fitting) of the spring?

It's been a long time since I looked at mine, but the photo sure does look like it's soldered vs spade terminal.

that photo is from dequincey ... since the end rotates to tighten the spring / contact ... that would put a lot of twist on the wire.

Seems it just slides through a hole, and is held there by spring force.

just goes to show you, it didn't stick in the memory. the good news is that i found a plastic piece 11 years ago, but i didn't remember about how to reattach the wire. looks like the spring end is pushed in and there is a hole in the pin for the wire to be inserted. so it just goes to show you, its hard to teach an old dog a new trick ... and if you do, its hard to teach him to remember the trick. maybe this time i will remember now that i've had my nose rubbed in it. appreciate the reminder Erik!

For sure i've asked certain questions more then once here as well!

If we were still 25, we'd remember, but most of us wouldn't have the car to match.

google is actually a better way to search e9coupe for detailed searches. when you get to looking for things with only 3 letters, our search doesn't work - like air or a/c.

Wire is just soldered, pretty robust

Actually it isn’t. There is a hole in the post that the wire goes into and is held in place by spring. You have to push the spring in to expose the hole
