I’m 100% with you on this.
I also believe that extreme modifications to our E9s are very risky unless they’re done purely for ourselves. Everything ultimately comes down to taste, of course. The 911, on the other hand, is a car that’s surprisingly hard to ruin with modifications — provided they’re done with real knowledge and a good sense of proportion. I suspect that simply being part of the 911 community already says something about a person’s judgement… do you agree?
I own two E9s myself. As many of you know, the work that goes into them is a massive investment — of both money and time — but I primarily see it as just that: an investment. In the age of AI, I suspect these kinds of handcrafted cars will only increase dramatically in value. Robots still can’t do this kind of work, and in times of relative prosperity, skilled craftsmanship like this will be worth even more.
So, like most of us here, I want to build something beautiful — but I’m not necessarily prepared to spend €100–150k on a car that could easily lose half its value simply because it doesn’t hit the current market’s taste.
That’s just how I see it. Still, it’s always a pleasure reading everyone’s thoughts.
