Hi everyone-
I’m looking for a solution for replacing / recovering my tan interior front seat coverings. They have some minor rips and tears which are only getting worse over time. It was recommended to get in touch with a few individuals in this forum, but instead of multiple dm’s, I’ll post to everyone.

If anyone can suggest where to either source new / original style material I’d appreciate the input - or any suggestions to address the issue.

It was suggested I contact the following, so please comment if you can help:

SFDon,
HBChris,
Markos,
rsporsche,
JMinPDX,
ScottAndrews,
Paulaner
StephenZ. (The first 4 names: parts and vendor knowledge. The other names have active or recently completed vehicle projects), and also: 70sRescueGuy

Thank you!
Dave

You should contact VSR, as they are in your neck of the woods

Gentlemen - there is no exact match for the material that was originally used on the seats in our cars. Thus, you cannot simply replace the drivers' side bolster, which usually gets the most wear. Best plan to redo both front seat at the same time.

Our handy, dandy list of vendors includes a vendor in NH: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/what-are-the-top-sources-for-parts-and-service.33895/post-388686

The suggestion to contact Mario and/or Chris at VSR is also a good one. They do very good work. In the long haul, it is a good idea to develop a relationship with someone like VSR for work you cannot do yourself. I know Mario has had several clients develop and implement multi-year plans to improve their coupes, which spreads out the cost and allows for vehicle usage in between visits to the shop.

Yep, I used Newark years ago for my 1600 and I’ll be getting material from them at some point to make my own seat covers for my Bav. I’ve gotten a bunch of samples and like what they’ve sent and they’re good on communication, too.
I miss having Esty for carpets..I hadn’t realized that she had passed away not too long ago..:-(

I think I have a single intact front seat, if you need just one, upload an image so I can see if it matches what I have. I bought this 15 years ago only to find the pattern does not match mine. Color is like that in Dick's image above.

Thanks Bob - I will let the potential buyer know, but since he needs both front seats, he will likely get two new ones from Newark Auto - and that’s if he decides the car is for him.
Thank you so much for letting me know!

you might want to post a few pics so that people can know what you are up against. whether you could replace a center panel ... or one of the bolsters ... or if you just have to recover the entire seat.

the chances of getting material to match exactly is probably not going to be an option - either color or texture. you will probably have to refinish / redye the existing leather to match the replaced pieces. if you are going this route, let the upholsterer furnish the leather / redye.

the 2 sources for seat kits in the USA are GAHH and Newark. GAHH usually supplies better quality of leather (IMHO). the prices are similar between the two, but with all of the advertising that Newark is doing on sports tv channels, i would believe that a portion of what you are paying for is that.

Mario / Chris has a couple of upholsterers that he uses and they are quite good. my CSL style rear seats were done up there and they are gorgeous. they are expensive, but as close to perfect as you will find in the region ... as good as anybody in the country. the drive from Providence to Bedford, NH is only a few hours and meeting with them and seeing their work is a great experience.
