And appropriately, it includes a box of Sunkist lemons?
I don't see any consideration for resale cost, one way or the other, either with repairing the stock harness or creating a new one from scratch.
However, I would suggest a repair because the wires/wiring diagrams for the E9 are nicely color coded and with a non-stock harness, the next owner may...
Our local one is not. They even have gigantic poster of a fjord E9 hanging in their showroom, which just had a remodel mandated by BMWNA.
The problem is that the OEM parts computer system is not all that backwards compatible. I've gone through the same struggles as DQ before with the parts...
deQ,
Great videos. I do have one question. Where did you get those black adapters that let the "snails" fit so well? I made my own adapters out of two plastic kitchen storage containers (Tupperware circa 1975?) that just happened to be the correct outside diameter. I'm always afraid that my DIY...
Does anyone really think that stating $X OBO is any different than an "auction"? I empathize with Koopman as in the past I have listed E9 parts that way and essentially after talking with the buyer, given them away for just the shipping costs. Why? Many of the parts were in a condition...
It does look likeone of the nuts that holds the individual gauges and clock to the gauge assembly. I hope that it's an extra, because if it's missing your clock might fall into the "abyss" when you go over a bump.
I have a Model 2 in mine and it was easy to install with no drilling and/or cursing. It's not for the E9 purist, but with the right faceplate and knobs, it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. The sound quality, the USB and the Bluetooth capabilities make up for the anachronistic digital...
(Cough cough :-) ). Before you do anything, search this message board for professional refurbishing options. There was a recent thread that just rolled off of the top of this message board that discussed the two major options for pro refinishing. As you know, the panels are a wood veneer and...
Apparently, nor do most E9 clocks care either. :)
Beautiful job on that gauge. Was the conversion price reasonable (by E9 standards)? Matching the lettering with those press-on letter kits is the main challenge for me at least.
It looks like a stock E9 temperature gauge custom-converted to an oil pressure/ voltmeter combo. It's really a beautiful and seamless conversion.
I have a 2nd temp gauge that I'm in the process of working on in a similar fashion.
I'm confused. Didn't 1972 2002s have round tail lights. I had a 72 Malaga 2002 and a 72 Polaris 2002tii and they both had round tail lights. Is this car a Euro build of some sort?
From looking at that photo album, I'd say that if you want to do a top notch job of restoring that car, you are going to have to pay some big bucks for the restoration. I'm just southwest of Albany, NY and I have a 1972 3.0CS which I restored from the bare metal up, including a rebuilt engine...

I want to say that mine looks great. Eric even used some leftover tan leather from my old seat backs and covered the console top with it.
I recommend him highly.
