    Installing New Ignition Switch

I recently ordered a new ignition switch for the coupe while I had one of our favorite mechanics from the SF area out here working on it. Problem is it didn't get to the island before he had already done his work and flown the coop. So now I have installed the new one as far as connecting the...

    Shock tower braces

I'm thinking I'm definitely going to get the front brace. I have done enough research to know the bodies on our coupes flex quite a bit. Lots of curvy roads where I live to put it to the test. Thanks for the input

    Shock tower braces

What is the general consensus from those that have added a brace between the front shock towers. I see that several places offer them. There's even one for the rear available.....maybe too much of a good thing? Just looking from a few opinions from those with experience. Thanks

hood torsion spring mechanism, break and renew

Good advice and thank you for it! But unfortunately, that's exactly what happened to damage it. I watched from the driver's seat as it buckled forward instead of back to my horror. Got out and opened the hood immediately to find the damage already done. I just didn't think it would be so...

hood torsion spring mechanism, break and renew

Dequincey, I may be contacting you for a little help along the way as I take up this endeavor soon. I heard this is a somewhat difficult undertaking from SFDon who normally does my work for me. But i live in Hawaii and have to fly him out every time I need something done which I'm trying to...

    The Green Meanie Lives!

thanks to SFDon who breathed life into the green meanie over the last couple weeks installing the new MegaSquirt and all the other fun goodies! Had to change the fuel pump which had been a big deficiency. Someone had replaced the original with a pump for a carbureted car, delivering only 9psi...

    Plugs

Is there a consensus about what kind of spark plugs to run on your coupe? I'm going to be running a pretty hot engine once the megasquirt is put in. I had a set of NGK Iridiums but I've been told those aren't good to use. I'm looking for the what (to use) and the why if anyone can help here...

    Oil grade?

Any preference on the conventional or synthetic VR1? What is the recommended oil change interval for this oil? I just bought a case after seeing this post. Perfect timing while I do this little renovation on the coupe.

    Green Meanie Restoration Begins

So we've taken the Green Meanie down to the block and head. Some stuff we're replacing (injectors, etc) and some we're sandblasting and powder-coating (plenum and runners) I'm attaching a link to the pics I took in the beginning to send SF Don before he came out to work. I'll update the link...

Things have gone from bad to...well, great!

First of all, I will post pics in a couple hours of everything as the project progresses. Some of you guys may remember that I bought a "1973 3.0CSI" in Taiga a year ago. It's a great looking car and less than 53k miles. I got it from a friend of mine who had it for about 20 years and only...

    Non-stock distributor

Hey guys. One of the first two owners replaced my points based distributor with an electronic one. I was going to replace the rotor, points and condensor and was shocked to find out there was no points or condensor. I took a picture of the distributor which has some casting numbers on it. I'm...

I do remember seeing info about that shop while reading through threads. Thanks for taking the time to remind me of them. SFDon, if you have the free time when you get here, I'd love to grab a beer/coffee and pick your brain for a few important things I should know/do to keep my car in good...
