    How did it start?

My father bought a 2800 CS in June 1971 (I still have it). Chamonix with dark blue vinyl interior. It had been a demo car with BMW in Sweden. Here is the strange part: Munich has informed me that it was built on Jan 22nd, 1969, and yet the chassis number is 2200658. If they bagan production ’in...

Removal of the dash mounted "Fasten Seat Belt" sign

I removed mine, and thought the holes, or home made covers, would be disturbing, so I turned it around. From the cabin it no longer disturbs, and from the outside it could look like a radar detector

    Dead AC

Fairly new compressor. Always works, but today nothing happens as I turn the lower knob. The fuse, 7? Which shares the left door window must be ok, as the window funs normally. Is there another fuse, or relay that I should check? Thanks, Peder

Cold start valve for a CSi

    Manual steering boxes (CSL)

I have at least one ps box and one manual box where there must be wearon the main, shaft, resulting in a bit of play in the straight ahead position. This cannot be cured by tightening the nut on the lid. Doing this any further will damage the box, and make it too tight towards the extreme ends...

What did you do to your E9 today?

I drove the Siena for 360 miles in beautiful weather. Overtook most cars cruising at 120-150km/h Then I took the Taiga out, which I will drive back to Stockholm on Monday or Tuesday. And yes, I took out a NOS pair of Bosch wiper blades, in its original box with a DM price sticker rubber was as...

    Manual steering boxes (CSL)

And how many turns on the steering wheel? I found a remark in one of the cars’ Blue book that I noted 4 turns and another note saying 5 turn. And I must try on a CSi the number of turns, as comparison.

    Manual steering boxes (CSL)

I have one ending in 108, and another one ending in 153. to do with the ratio, but can´t remember which was which. the E3 also came with a manual box, as an option. Batmobiles might have another ratio...? thanks, peder

Anyone had both manual and power steering on their Coupes?

The problem with both ps and manual steering boxes is that the central, grooved part can wear at the straight ahead position. The resulting play cannot be cured by tightening the adjustment screw on top. So a low mileage box is better than a worn one. Trial snd error will reveal good boxes from...

    Rear axel question

Beware that they are longer for the 4 door sedans, than for our coupes. But they look identical. I have the exact lengths somewhere, but can´t find it.

    30mm vs 40mm thick radiator

I use the thicker stock rad, for Automatics originally, I think, or at least CSi cars. Works fine with red or black fan, with respective clutches

    Rear differential rubber mount problem

I had the same problem with a new mount from W&N many years ago. Found another new one which was correct. Perhaps it is for another model, and got mixed up at the provider...? Not much help, but a possible explanation

    Gauges out, Speedo repaired

I posted many years ago that 4W was the way to go, esp for the blue headlamp telltale. Tpday I would say: 4W on all but the green blinker which I think is disturbingly bright at night with 4W. 3 is enough.
