Thanks to both of you, and yes, the window regulator switch does not work (as it should) with ignition off and door open. One of the 3 relays, up and to the left in the fuse compartment is the culprit here.

It was actually the turn signal relay, which is mounted vertically just under the steering column. I had a new one among my spares. The hazard warning relay is one of the 3 on the upper left side in the space with the fuse box.
