A-post switch not working on 2 cars...

on 2 of my cars, the interior light comes on when opening the right/passenger door, but not when opening the driverś door. A relay involved...? I know there is a wire vonnection behind the kick panels, and A-post contacts which can malfunction.
And the reverse light contact on one car is phony, in that it will only activate the lights when the car actually begins to move backward...!
I did 875 miles yesterday and today in one of my Coupes, from Switzerland to Sweden, i will write more about this when I have a proper PC keyboard, on Saturday.

The driver side has two wires, one for the light, the other to activate relay enabling windows to work when door opens. It must not be grounding well enough.

I've found the switch defective on a couple 2002's I've owned. The grease gathers cr*p and the switch fails. It may only need cleaning to be functional. Be careful taking out the door post switch since one wire is hot all the time; likely it will ground on the body and blow the fuse. Thus remove the fuse (which?) or disconnect battery ground (easier) prior to removal.

The switch on the light fixture can also go bad, it's a primitive device. I've got this issue on my E30, haven't gotten around to fixing it. That car has 4 door switches, which one is bad?

Thanks to both of you, and yes, the window regulator switch does not work (as it should) with ignition off and door open. One of the 3 relays, up and to the left in the fuse compartment is the culprit here.

Both function now work! All I did was to pull out the switch from the A-post ans spray some WD 40 while pressing the spring loaded contact with plenty of paper behind. As I put it back and inserted the screw, I heard the clicking from the relay (one of the 3 small, as the larger, black one is for the intermittent wipers on this '74 car).
