    Rust Spot Fix Question

My own RoT is rust coming from underneath/ inside will always need to be cut out for a successful fix. This might be due to a moisture trap or inadequate protection on the inside surfaces of a previous repair. Rust which has come from the outside, ie a scratch or similar can usually be wire...

    M90 Head rebuild parts?

I once bought a 1981 635csi as a breaker, a garage had fitted a 3430cc m30b34 h-gasket to a 3453cc m90 engine. This is why the car was a breaker!! Seller had symptoms of repeated overheating. I only realised why as I stripped the head off. Very messy, burnt sticky oil everywhere

    Injector options for D-Jet

I think Bosch 003 is the original d jet injector in BMWs. Mine are 003s and were rebuilt last year. And I think 043 is a direct swap out with 003s I used Mr Injector for the rebuild, not the most reassuring of trading names, but he was the only person I spoke to who knew anything about older EFI...

    So, what is it?

thanks Barry, found info on a 4-barrel carb manifold, which does look to have the same dimensions and layout as my odd parts. Not as esoteric as I was hoping for! Sounds like some E12 and E23 cars came with a 4-barrel Solex carb https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/m30-4-barrel-manifold.24596/...

    So, what is it?

Thanks Chris, yes I see it is a fuel pump spacer/ insulator. Like this from W&N https://www.wallothnesch.com/isolierflansch-fuer-benzinpumpe-wird-1x-pro-auto-benoetigt-13-13-00.html I don't know what the nozzle like addition is for though. I googled the part no. and I found one other image of...

    So, what is it?

This is not a what's it worth thread, I haven't even got that far. Whilst digging around in my stash of old parts, looking for gaskets and seals for a forum member doing some engine work, I re-found some mystery parts. These were all purchased by me as part of a garage clearance sale about 10...

The Force is Strong with This One

If you like the E39 platform, think Alpina. BMW did not make an E39 M5 touring, but Alpina gave it a good go. I used to own B10 V8S #12, a 4.8 litre 375bhp family wagon. This is a tuned M62, so lacks the twin intakes and double vanos of the M5, but shifted well all the same It also came in 4.6...

    Brake Pressure Regulator - Help!

I went to look in my stash of treasures. Turns out I have one from an E12/E24 6er which I broke many years back It would need different plumbing as on E12 it lives in the engine bay

    Electric cooling fan

on early E3/E9 cars, the elec fan (where fitted) is controlled by a small black box fitted to the inner wing, near the airbox. This I think takes a signal from the same coolant temp sender as controls the dash gauge, certainly on my car this sender has a single wire, which is split into two. The...

    Electric cooling fan

I run the elec pusher fan from E9/E3 aircon cars, and no viscous fan. I have no aircon. I was skeptical at first but this set up does seem to be more than adequate here in the UK. Couldn't comment on cooling adequacy in Guadeloupe! The mod was done by a PO who raced the car... no viscous...

    WTB Exhaust flange gasket

Let me know if you can't find anything local to you In my car I have fitted the equivalent part from an E24/28, etc. 18111245500 I don't know if they are fully interchangeable, but it fits and works just fine. Fitted the later part as I had a small blow with the earlier part, likely due to my...

    Strange brake issue

Rebuild looks to be an option, in the US at least https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/brake-pressure-regulator-34344750020.9595/ Or very pricey, from Germany... ouch https://www.online-teile.com/bmw-ersatzteile/34344750020_Brake-Pressure-Regulator.html?language=en

    Somewhere in Northumberland

I grew up in deepest darkest Northumberland, think I'm right in saying it's the least densely populated county in England, which makes for emptier roads. I do miss those empty roads, even in my 1100 Fiesta (I was 17). The home counties' roads just aren't as good. Which road was it? looks epic...

    Strange brake issue

Can you see if they still hold a vac when the brake pedal is pressed? You mentioned the shhhhh sound when you used the brakes. Put a vac on them with a hand held, and get your beautiful assistant to gently/ firmly press the pedal. This link has good info on remote servos. I've never needed to...

    Strange brake issue

there shouldn't be any shussing of air, that sounds like a vac leak. What is the history of the remote servos? Are they both making that noise, or only one? I don't think it'll be the inline check valve, if that was the wrong way round it would stop vac getting to the remote servos in the first...
