    RHD Inka Coupe auction- England

NT places need to be booked, to control numbers still I think. Brentford is easy for me to get to though. Keen to hear about Paul Baker experiences

    RHD Inka Coupe auction- England

If you're heading out to the west, Ace cafe, or thereabouts, count me in. Greenwich is probs a bit deeper into the smoke than I'd want to go. Bushy Park? Congrats on the CS, I love an orange coupe!

    Door fettling advice

Good info guys, many thanks. Think I first need to undo the upper hinge fully from the car to see why I can't move the door inboard any further. Currently the leading edge of the door is proud of the wing/fender by 1-2mm at the top. I tried loosening the hinge, but the door would not move...

    Door fettling advice

This weekend I'm diving into my driver's door, to see if I can improve its fit and reduce wind noise. I have two questions First up, I have bought a new-to-me wood trim for the door, as the veneer was starting to split on the original. The new wood clashes with the quarter light adjuster knob...

    RHD exhaust manifold seal

I have a stack of these, suspect postage to Tasmania might be prohibitive, but I can confirm BMW still stock these

Oil leak at valve cover/timing cover

Hi Dan, is the height difference at the bottom of the upper timing cover, i.e. by the chain tensioner, or at the top, by the valve cover? If the height difference is at the bottom, I'd try cutting an additional gasket from gasket paper, to sit on top of the cyl head gasket, to fill the gap. It's...

    WTB Oil Filter Head

The part that mounts to the block and holds the oil filter housing. I want to fit an oil temp sender, but don't want to drill a hole in my car's original filter head. I know there are various types out there, mine has the steel "purolator" filter housing, with the securing bolt accessed from...

    Oops, I've broken it

Thanks Steve, found it. Access was not as bad as I thought, down by the starter solenoid. Have replaced the connector and the wire. The copper by the connector was not in good shape! Pressure sender fitted. The kind of job which makes you wish you had Donald trump's hands!

    Oops, I've broken it

Does anyone know how the wire from the oil pressure switch is routed to the warning light in the dash, aka the idiot light? I've snapped the wire (arghh) whilst fitting a VDO dual sender, for my gauges install. About 6" of wire came away, from somewhere down the back of the head. Getting a...

    Gauges?

https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.php/Installing_VDO_gauges Also found an E30 based thread on gauge installs. I've just installed a set of Audi gauges in my E9, with a minimalist approach. As these are clearly non factory I haven't worried too much about matching the needle colour, or...

Thanks for posting. I look at that and wonder how on earth petrol is cheaper than Coca Cola.

Munich Legends Restored RHD CSL for sale

Didn't think the city pack cars had the elephant skin. Mine doesn't, not that this proves anything! Was wondering if this is the JK car that failed to sell at auction recently, but I think not, having looked at the photos of both. Overall nice condition I think

    E9 Under engine plate/wall

My CSL, which has the cowcatcher front splitter, has lost its under engine tray. I have been told that the undertray improves stability at high speed, by reducing lift at the front I assume. Do you think my car would benefit from the undertray, given it has the splitter, which is also designed...

    WTB-propshaft for a 3.0csl

Have you checked with your local stealer? Think you can still buy them new from somewhere. My CSL was converted from 5-spd back to 4-spd by its previous owner, so needed a new prop, which looks brand new still. Not sure where he got hold of it, or cost

    Gauges?

I think this is a market specific thing. In Europe VDO do bar and Celsius, but in the US perhaps they only do psi and F. Certainly all the VDO gauges I have seen the UK are "metric"

    Gauges?

A while back you could pick them up easily in breakers, any 5 cylinder Audi tended to have gauges and senders. You can buy new from eBay, imagine a VAG dealer and most spares places would stock them also. I'm not 100% sure on interchangeability, but the link I shared above seems to indicate any...

    Gauges?

Hi, when I've seen this on an M30, a dual contact sender unit is put in the stock pressure sender location, rear left corner of cylinder head, as Don says. I did this mod on an E24 and needed a thread adaptor as the sender (Audi unit) had a different thread. Think there's a bit more room on the...

Clips to secure chrome trim on doors

Need a few clips. These secure the door skin along the top edge, and also secure the external chrome along the top of the door. I think the part no. is 51211803685 W&N do stock these, but was hoping to save a few £ by finding some in the the UK Cheers Drew

    Leak at exhaust downpipe flange

Dropping the exhaust is always an option. I've refitted the flange connection with a new gasket and a smear of copper grease. I ran my finger over the surfaces and couldn't detect any defect, or even any real roughness. I ran a damp cloth around the flange surfaces to clean it and used a...
