Dad's archive: Laguna Seca 1960 photos

Hi, all. If you'll indulge me, I thought I'd share some of my dad's race-day photography from Laguna Seca. He was one of many "unofficial" track photographers back in the day, and shot (not races) for newspapers in the Bay Area from the late '50s through the early '60s. I'll start with a couple...

My son and his 325 conv.

Hey, Rick. Riggs Bros. is sort of acknowledged as the go-to top/upholstery guys locally. They have several suburban locations. I've used them for tinting, but their reputation is strong on interior re/builds. https://www.riggsbros.com/ Ogden Top and Trim is another I hear good things about...

A few photos from Los Gatos Neue Klasse and Kaffee

Great to see you and your 2800 as well. What a range of preservation/restoration/modifications and models...1800, 2800, 2002s. You forget what survives in California. Sheesh. Now, back to Chicago.

BAT Inka Euro 1975 BMW 3.0CS 4-Speed, NMNA

My recent experience with BaT was exactly this. Buying and bidding behavior that's much more impulsive than informed. Bidders see rarity, styling, rising values (at least until recently), and whip out their checkbooks. They shrug off warnings about rust or questionable repairs, don't consult the...

1971 Polaris 2800 on BaT obligatory post

Ah, yes. Agave, Markos, not Turkis. My bad. Still curious if the registry entry is wrong on the Schwartz.

1971 Polaris 2800 on BaT obligatory post

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-bmw-2800cs-16/ Originally Turkis. Would be nice to see a shot of the VIN stamping on the firewall. The registry has this as Schwartz, from an Ebay listing in 2012. Carl Nelson pedigree is nice to have. The (repro?) VIN plate looks...I dunno...?

72 csi on BaT in Leipzig

I think it's the saturation setting or color filter on to the primary selling photos. Those look very...intense blue for nachtblau. But when you look at photos 13-18, those look more like the nachtblau that originally came on my car. Serious bidders will certainly ask which is closer to "reality."

    BaT Photographers?

Have recently witnessed the emasculation of my suggested prose on BaT, I'd suggest that they'd have to fire the lawyers before they fire the writers, if you want to see more interesting copy. The formulaic writing comes from the need (and likely rules and content guidelines handed to listing...

    M30B34-Powered Euro 1973 BMW 3.0CSi 5-Speed

Could be. Or just the overall non-originals made the potential market really narrow on a slow day...It's a color you have to see in person, and literally no one who was a serious bidder saw it.
