    Sharkfest Baby!

So, despite the fact that I did not make Sharkfest, I managed to obtain my unused 79 635csi fender from New Hampshire. The delivery guy I was supposed to meet in Chattanooga extended his trip and brought the fender here. He was quite sociable too.

    E24 635 manual recommission

I had joined a while ago, then found my account locked out. I has thought maybe it was inactivity, but it turns out I hadn't paid the fee. I paid up six months ago when I picked up the barn find 79 Euro 635csi, but wouldn't recommend it to others.

    E24 635 manual recommission

Yeah, I have gotten spoiled here. Bimmerforums and Big Coupe are pretty low engagement places, particularly when browsing for parts. My Euro 635csi is going to be a slow project.

Pretty sure that's a no go. I have a 114 brain in my 79 635csi, and when I was first trying to get it started (it sat for ten years before I bought it), I swapped in an m30b35 brain. It started, but would not idle smoothly. The idle was very lumpy, almost like a muscle car with a big cam. So...

How tight should the speedo cable 13 mm bolt at the back of the transmission be?

I have three transmissions, one has a hole, two don’t. If yours does not I suggest that you drill it and wire it. The seals, O ring is thicker than normal, but easy to change, the shaft seal is a PITA, suggest that you buy two or three seals, they are easy to damage. Or, pay someone who knows...

    E9 repair-shop in Florida

yes sure, every car in Germany has a title. You say „Any car can be imported without modification“, mine doesn‘t have the original engine installed, it has a M30B35 from a 635CSi. Is that a Problem?

Newer block is missing the mounting bosses on the right side you need for the stock motor mount. All E34, all but the earliest E32 motors need this. E24 635CSi blocks have them. http://www.bmw-stuff.com/proddetail.asp?prod=m30r

...tells me all I need to know about not dealing with them. If you look on car-part.com for an engine from a 1989-1993 BMW 535i, you'll find several from E34s and E32s that are closer and less money. Some even have warranties. There are some 1988-89 635CSi engines as well but they're all back...

How tight should the speedo cable 13 mm bolt at the back of the transmission be?

The one on my 635csi does not have a hole. Haven't climbed under my coupe to see if that one has a hole, but I know I did not put safety wire on it when I installed it.

How tight should the speedo cable 13 mm bolt at the back of the transmission be?

...is that the bolt fits into a groove and only needs to be tight enough to keep the cable from coming out. I just looked at this on my 635csi barn find. Your leak is coming either from the o ring for the speedo drive, or the shaft seal inside the speedo drive unit. Replace the o-ring...

This is maddening @aearch. There are four different motors used in 635csi. If your friend has a $600 car for you, I can only presume it is a US M30B34. This is the least desirable of the four, and the one motor that everyone advised not to get. You can get a running B35 for $1,500 or less. If...

    Insane Online Wheel Museum

Nice...looks like a lot of JDM wheels, which is cool. I used to own a little Toyota Corolla "peanut." Fun little car to take auto-crossing. If you didn't know they were wheels, some of them look like they could be fly fishing reels. Some don't even look like wheels if you didn't know you were...
