    This from the seller on the BaT listing... "...Then I purchased my e9 in 2004, followed by an 1980 633 CSi, an 85 635CSi, a 1973 3.0 S 3.3 liter five-speed (keeping), a 2016 X1 and my daily driver, a 1986 Mercedes 380 SE." Smart man...he's keeping the E3 :)

Mystery number written under left footwell insulation?

Also, BMW didn’t make a 3.09 differential. The 3.07 was offered behind the dogleg transmission in the early euro 635csi (78+). Likely also been in the M535i e12 also, but I haven’t confirmed.

    2800cs dipstick

...it is supposed to go in the oil pan. Can anyone meassure how long it supposed to be from the plastic stopper to the end of the dipstick on an 2800 cs? I have a dipstick from a 1985 635csi engine, can I use that one? The same ticking noise is still there with 6 liters of Castrol classic 20w40 oil

...agree with the clickbait headline, and share D.S' distaste for the "(insert number here) best/worst". Having had 15 2002s myself and a euro 635CSi, those cars should have made the list. But who'd read an article about the Seven Best BMWs...? Love the E31 though apparently few others did...
