Bid for the chance to own a 3.5L-Powered 1972 BMW Bavaria 5-Speed at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #212,244.
Really nice build. All that time and effort and they went with mediocre seats and left the side markers in place (tinted black). Seats are an easy fix.
Should sell for less than it would cost to build.
I'd love to take a drive in this car and see how the 5-speed / M30 3.5L combination feels. Braking should be quite nice if those 4-piston front Wilwoods have 2-pistons brethren on the rear...
I wonder what the compression ratio is.. since the description mentions a M30B35 block with a high compression M30B34 head on it. Stock is 9:1. 9.5:1 ? Possibly 10:1 ? They also mention fuel injection, so the engine might have an 80's ECU from an E28.. an early Bosche Motronic... You might even be able to sneak a Dinan or Conforti chip into the ECU.
I see a thwartships mounted expansion tank, a brake/clutch fluid reservoir and a PS fluid reservoir. What is the brake master cylinder setup? Power assist? I see some relays and fuses as well. I wonder what that schematic looks like.
As the owner for 20 years of a 3.5l 5-speed E3, I'll attest to the fact that these are wonderful cars to drive.
