I want to replace the Bosch distributor currently loaded with a Crane Fireball optical trigger with a new 123 Tune model. Do I remove the ballast resistor from the circuit with the 123?

There are a number of wires that come off one side of the ballast as you can see from the image. If the ballast is removed, do the ones currently connected to the ballast just remain hanging, disconnected?

I removed the resistor from the circuit but not from the car, I use it as a junction box for all the wires and in case I need to put the old distributor back if the 123 fails on a road trip. Plus to keep the original look. I can post a pic later if you'd like.

Pictures always appreciated! Thank you.

Haven't done this on an E9, but I recently done this on a Pagoda Merc. W113.

PRetty sure 123 wants you to remove the ballast resistor. I did the above as well as I kept the original BR on there, but put all the wires on one end of it as a junction. THat way you can keep it there to look sort of OEM, but of course, that shiny dizzy will give it away anyways.
