okay guys ... i spent a little time on all of the tire manufacturer's websites looking for 14" tires ... and all that can be found, with the exception of the XWX and Vredstein tires that Coker sells, are Grand Touring All Season or Standard Touring All Season.

here's what i found - with tirerack's rankings:
General - Altimax RT43 <2nd std touring>
General - Altimax
Pirelli - P4 <6th std tour'g>
Kuhmo Sense KR26 <12th grand touring>
Kuhmo - Solus KR21 <11th std touring>
Michelin - Defender <7th std tour'g>
Yokohama - AVID Touring S <12th std tour'g>
Sumitomo - Touring LST <13th std tour'g>
Toyo - Extensa A/S
Cooper - Lifeliner G/S
Goodrich - Touring T/A
Goodrich - Advantage T/A
Goodrich - Radial T/A (raised white letter - 205/70-14)
Hankook - Optima H724 <15th std touring>
Hankook - Optima H725 <19th std tour'g>
Goodyear - Assurance

anybody have any experiences with any of these?

Scott,

Are all these in 195x 70 x 14?

I saw the XWX and they looked too balloon to my eye, belong on an old Ferarri.

Saw the BF Goodrich and they looked pretty good and are available in 225 x 60x 14.

I have yet to find another option in that size. My current Michelin Pilots are that size but NLA

I've also got Yokohama Avid 195 70 14 on my CSI and for the price I've been happy
except I noticed some wandering on concrete freeways that have grooves for
in them for rain mitigation. They are quiet, and seem to wear well. Got them
from Tire Rack, shipped from Reno,NV.

Stan,

according to the manufacturer's website, all of these are available in 195/70 - 14 except the XWX and the radial T/A - both of those are 205/70 - 14 ... and to make matters worse for the T/A they only come with raised white letters. i will caution you that Tirerack or Discount tire do NOT carry all of these tires in 195 / 70 - 14.

225/60 - 14 might have some alternatives ... not positive.

visual notes - the kuhmo's are the ugliest with BIG graphics / text on the side of the tires. some of the others have large text too,

price - the michelin are about 105 bucks each, plus install
the yokos are about 85 ea. the general is 76 from discount tire

general altimax

i've the regular general altimax for the past 4 years. they are surprising good and handles fairly well. size 195-70x14. got them via oninetires.com for around $60 will call price. very reasonable. i wish there were more options for 225-70x14 from the more common name brands. don't care for bf goodrich products. beware of the new name brand tires, they do have the 225-70x14 sizes. my opinion.

W., 225 x 70 are too tall. 225 x 60 are the same at 195 x 70
