this looks like a coupe previously owned by one of the forum members. it has a 6 series style airdam - already at 28k
I think that engine is overkill in a coupe. The structure of the car is not made to handle that much horsepower.
In addition, those engines really only come alive over 4000 rpm. If you look compare the HP and torque curves to the M30b35 below 4000 rpm, you will find very little difference. And if you are realistic about how much time you spend above 4000 rpm, I think the added trouble and expense of the S38 is not worth it.
Yes, looks great. And if you park next to one at an event, most people will pass you buy to look at the S38.Yeah, but S38s sure look sexy in our engine bays.
Looks that way. Not sure how it got to the seller after quite a bit of time, effort and $ spent by Gary W.Was this Gary Waggoner’s old coupe?
Wow, what a different model than BaT for Selling and Buying. 10% buyer fee, no max., then a 10% commission to seller and the $1K entry fee? I guess they need to pay all the concierges and rent of facilities, staff, etc. So in this case, seller would have been better off taking the $131K from BaT minus a $99 seller fee. ~$4K loss to seller. This car crossed Mecum Auction again yesterday, I believe by the same seller.
Hammered at: $140K (buyer pays 10% fee)
Buyer will pay: ~$154K (all in)
Seller will receive around $127K (~10% fee + $1K entry fee)
I am pretty sure that bidders get free booz!

So Mecum's gross is roughly $27k (buyer pays $154 less seller receives $127). Nice work if you can get it.This car crossed Mecum Auction again yesterday, I believe by the same seller.
