I have been insured with Hagerty for about 8 years now and was curious what I should insure my car for based on what seems to be the current rise in prices. I originally had the car insured years ago for $5,000 and a year ago raised it to $10,000 which they did right away never asking for current photos. I feel like I may still be underinsured. My car is a daily driver, repainted about 10 years ago, not the best job as the paint is peeling in places, car does have a 5-speed swap, dash does have cracks, interior is in average condition, everything works except clock. Body is straight with no damage and as far as rust very minimal surface rust (from what I can see) as the car has always been a SoCal car. I do have the BBS RC090 wheels on it now but also have the stock wheels. Anyone else with a similar car insured through Hagerty or any other collector car insurance? What type of value have you put on the car?

I f you had no Coupe, what do you think you would pay for yours? Seems most 10K Coupes have rust that costs 10K to fix.

That is my question, I don't know what it would cost today to buy a coupe similar to mine. I see cars I wouldn't pay $1,500 for or could have bought for $1,500 just a couple of years ago selling for $5,000.

I think you can go up to $14k.
I assume its condition is that of a daily driver but is not used as a daily driver, otherwise collector insurance may not fit the bill, right?

Not driven daily or anywhere close, just meant it is reliable where it can be a daily driver.

Solid daily drivers go for $25K now or more, even if it needs repaint and interior work. Ask for $25K or shop others online like American Collectors first.

The standard ceiling for a 2800CS is 30K. Hagertys will let you go up to this limit with few questions. Once you cross this threshold they will start asking many questions. With some good photos they will increase to about 40-45K. I would increase your coverage to at least 20K and be safe.

Last year, Hegarty insured my 2800S for $40K no questions asked though I did have a written appraisal.
