1971 blue 2800CSA $26k - New Jersey

Yes, it's a solid car. I'm no mechanic but was very interested in the car and think someone will really like this one. I was turned off by the fact that it's automatic and the price didn't leave me enough room to do a conversion.

There's not much history with the car but the owner Mark is willing to do a PPI with your mechanic, I was going to use Rennsport in Hackensack.

I just spoke with him, and he is willing to drive it within reason to do a PPI. I guess Gullwing motors offered him $20k and he turned it down. He mentioned that there is some bubbling below the bumper.

Did the rest of the car check out?

What price would you put the car at given from what you saw and accounting for the conversion?

Both Hagerty and Nada classic put the car at $19k, which I thought was fair. Considering the direction of the values of these cars $20-24 would be fair, you can message me if you want to talk offline. I put the conversion at $5k.

Needs:
-tires, tuning, stuffing for the seats, passenger door card reinforcement, power sunroof sorting or new 'guts.' Needs wood paneling replacement or restoration.

- other bubbles near the driver's side rear wheel well.

- may need some work in the front end, something was loose.

-trunk was solid but holding water, we shop vacuumed it. Curious how he cleaned it.

5 speed conversion

The trouble these days is getting the parts. The console surround, pedals, etc. And finding a gearbox that you know works well. If it has been sitting in yard for years, you really can't know. So I would put the cost of the conversion as somewhat higher.

The color, Riviera Blue, is really unique and nice.

Price in low 20s seems market correct these days, if it really is un-rusty.

Femur, totally agree, it might not be an easy flip but for someone who wanted a nice car and possibly wanted to do a 5-speed conversion in the future they could probably save allot of $tructural work and have a very good value, pending a thorough PPI :-)

If you don't WANT a stick shift (car for the wife), then $26k for a rust free (if true) is not bad at all.

Look at all the pagoda SLs out there. Automatics are commanding high prices ($50k plus at least). Plus, lots of older folks don't want to shift/clutch/etc.

Has some appeal. I bet it has more problems than meets the eye, otherwise it would have sold by now.

I have only seen this car for sale on NY CL and NJ CL over the past year on and off. Narrow exposure for these cars. On eBay they would probably find a buyer for 25g unless there are other hidden things wrong
