1972 bmw 3.0cs body measurements help

I have a buddy that is replacing body panels and some frame work. he needs the body measurements like the door opening and front frame to fenders and grill. he has the doors on it but it does not seem to be correct. I have been working with him but i'm not good at body stuff. is there any books or paper work that I can get for the specs. I have searched on the net and called a few dealers plus some shops but no luck. it seems that bmw really don't have any records of this type of job. I know these cars are hand built. there had to be something they had to go by. please help.
 
If you are using new front fender panels then they could be your problem. The new fenders I got from W&N about 5 years ago did not fit well. We had to cut out pieces from the new fender to splice them into the old. Likewise new door skins can be off. A really good body man should be able to figure it out with the hood and doors in place and customize the fitting.

Below are some basic dimensions from the blue book to at least get things straight.

the picture looks good thanks. where can I find the blue book. and what is the blue book. is it a shop or a tech manual. I like to have a copy if any one has one to selll or knows where to buy one. thanks for the info. bobby

they occasionally are on ebay. they have become quite expensive as they are a 2 volume manual on the car. prices range from 100 bucks to 400 bucks ... a decent price is around $200

echappe (list member) did have a volume 2 binder for sale recently, which has the body section within it.

ecently saw a post on caigslist selling Band 1 and Band 2 sevice manuals
