1972 CSA Tundra Metallic on BaT

Oooof look at those 2002AD receipts. And the resto pictures! What are the chances this sells for what went into it?

The color is lovely, but there are some nonoperative items and the automatic will hurt it.
 
I have a hard time looking through the photos of this car. No offense to the owner if they are on here. But there are so many incorrect details and ill fitments. I can't figure out what is going on with the front grilles and headlights - things are not aligning. Hood fitment is off. What is happening with the front fender top seams? C+ quality work.?. A fair amount was spent on the car, but it doesn't readily show. I applaud the seller for showing all of the in-shop photos and wish them the best in the auction.
 
the front grilles are from an early 2500 / 2800 e3. what you can see along the belt trim is that it was put on too tightly and didn't use the excellent spacers that our friend Carl Nelson makes ... these really help to keep from damaging the paint.

It makes one wonder what else all of that beautiful Tundra paint is covering up.
 
autokunst. I will add photos # 173, 178/9 and 211 to the file. No need to ask, "what lies below." Looked at some current and past reviews of this outfit. Check them out if you are considering them. And their shipping policy is like no other. You pay up front, they add their shipping charge to your credit card, sticker shock.

But what are they thinking? Brutally honest photos. But only half-completed work that will require major work in the near future. And so many inexpensive fixes left unfixed .

Once upon a time they were a great shop. But that was way, way before 2002 AD.

Yeah I’ve read a lot of negative reviews of 2002AD on here. It seems like most of it comes down to the current owner, and bad interactions with him and his business practices?

I’m interested because my coupe had a lot of work done by them back around 2003, which I think was before the current owner entered the picture.
 
I guess I could appreciate the pictures of all the sub par items if they would have said that in the copy. Kinda of a see all the warts kinda thing.

My one light surround fits a bit weird… not that weird.
 
you know it takes 2 to ignore something. in addition to the shop not taking care of things, the owner accepted the car ... maybe he was trying to stop the bleeding, i can't say. the owner of CSi / 2002 AD is a member here and he has owned CSi / 2002 AD for a very long time - i believe, but not certain that he has owned the companies since well before 2000.

Good to know. I had seen this thread from 2009 that talked about Ben of CSi buying 2002AD. But I guess it doesn’t really say when that happened

Edit: google tells me that in 2005 Ben Miller (already owner of CSi) bought 2002AD and in 2006 merged them.

I'm not sure what to make of the pic of the inside of the top fenders. If that was all welding lumps why didn't they bother to grind it down and clean it up properly. It's right up there were it's visible and if not done right detracts from the value significantly. If it's rust coming back thru and the metal is bubbling up under the paint that's more understandable, but still not good. It does look like the rockers were redone properly and the floors were patched with patch panels cut from correct replacement panels, rather than replacing the whole piece. That's almost as much work as replacing the whole area, but it doesn't make for a very pretty repair, although it's still structurally sound. Unfortunately, with this much poor work evident, it's going to really hurt the value as nobody will spend a lot for something that is kluged up like this.
 
I'm am also very far from having expertise here and the value of the $55k of work could certainly be debated....but I agree about the great value in this purchase. Much of the rust has been addressed. Very nice interior, decent exterior. Very solid buy.

Sadly, I didn't realize that this car was from Shelton, WA. I was there this weekend at a Lucky Dog race at The Ridge Motorsports. I could have laid eyes on this. :mad:

Yeah you could have poked the bubbles on the fenders, see if they are solid welds or crunchy!

How did the race go? What did you drive? I’ve been racing lemons every year but always been curious about lucky dog.
