Happy to DM you if you have further questions, but Lucky Dog is a series for more serious racing than Lemons or Chump/Champ car - fun team names but usually no kitchy car dress-ups. It attracts SCCA/NASA/Solo folks who want to do this more budget-friendly. No cost limit on the car, which must be 15 years old or older. Different classes based on qualifying times. Some bring big bucks and have $50k motors...others (my people) do it on a budget with junkyard parts. But speeds are rising - some crazy fast cars out there. I am considering starting my own team some day if I can find partners in my area to share costs/wrenching.



Our Acura CL 3.2 6-speed had transmission issues, so limited Saturday seat time for me. As you know from Lemons, it is an awesome community.

Now that it is sold, i feel comfortable to comment.

Such a curious case:
The bubbles on the fenders under the hood, the 55K bill, the 2021 bill that states "metalwork" and a paintjob, meaning that the bubbles have developed since, or were present and just painted over. Neither a good thing.

I do see in the 55K invoice parts listed to repair the full sill and floor construction, so that's likely the metal work. But seeing the inner fenders, to me it looks like the paint job was a bit of a waste, as the rust monster just continues feasting on the front end. I'm really curious how the front shock tower is looking on the inside.

from the open sill pic, I kind guess the front strut is in need of the same open heart surgery: see the rust creeping up on the A-pillar? The fenders likely didn't come off, otherwise they would have placed a pic of it and/or quoted other parts to be renewed. Given how bad the sills are + the rust bubbles on the fender, the front strut won't be any different:

In the pic below, the vertical line, in the middle of the pic, shouldn't be there. So yes, parts / patches have been welded in, but the deformations around it (to me) don't look like typical weld blobs; they are indicative of lifting paint. Secondly, you see some rough texture in the inner corner, and there should not be any welds there (not originally, but also not when repaired), so no other option then "rust".

At least one fender had been off in the past based on the not so tight seam.

What is the consensus on the selling price? Do you all feel that the level of rust repair hampered the value?

This is a tough one to call. Man, that was a lot of money in rust repairs that doesn't seem to have a good ROI. The rust is clearly still there. For me personally, I would rather pay more and buy a car that was done 100% correctly. But maybe that's cuz I am older and just want to drive the beast, as opposed to rebuilding it myself. Chacun son gout! (French for to each his own).
