1972 CSi project for sale in California

So the real question is,,,,,, What's a fair price for this???? Obviously to buy all the parts and have it done to this level is probably around what the person is asking for it. The question being "how much would it take for a shop to finish and what's it worth when it's done? Subtract the former from the latter and you have a good idea what it's worth. So what's a fair number on the finished car and what will it cost to finish it? Inquiring minds want to know?

Looking at that piece of crud engine bay picture with crap hanging out all over the place (why would you even include that picture) it’s gonna take a ton of work.

My thoughts exactly - nothing masked up, everything painted blue - doesn’t speak of quality or attention to detail. Strikes me it would be worth a punt at about a third of the asking price as you’d probably have to check and/or redo everything …..

And the price keeps falling, now $68K OBO...to @ElGrecko's question above, at what point is this actually worth it? CSi, paint looks like it might be "fine", engine rebuilt 20k miles ago. Weird place to be in because everything is theoretically done but you have no knowledge about how it's been done. With an assembled car that's a given but at least the car is running - here you're building with bits that you hope/assume have been done up to spec.

this CSi was for sale in 2025 by CSi in Pomona. that is a dark colored fjord - almost in between fjord + baikal

They painted the manifold Pressure Sensor Smurf Blue?

So professional....

The sad part is that the work in some areas looks nice (at least to my untrained eye) like the seats, and some other areas, like the engine compartment not so much. The bottom line is that it could be a very nice driver quality car when done, but it doesn't have the level of detail to make it a $100k car when it's finished and that put's it in an odd place. If you want to make it truly right it's going to cost a good bit more than if you just assemble it and drive it. But if you pay close to $70k for it you're going to be deeply underwater unless you do it yourself and that's a lot of work to put into a project like this if you value your time at anything. If everything was done nicely it would be closer to maybe $50k or even more, but if it's a reasonable price a shop would buy it and finish it. We don't see that happening and when anything is on the market for a long time it's obviously overpriced.

Yes, my thought as well - $45-50k and you’re probably then paying to redo a fair amount of the painting. Agree weird place, would almost it had an old paint job and be $35k
