1973 CS FS on Hemmings

thanks for posting this Drew. this is one that i had no previous information on in the ancestry project.
 
Scott-I was thinking you needed this VIN for your records. This Coupe looks like a real deal for a prospective buyer. It's interesting to see a USA car bought in Italy,and then having all of that work done when it returned with the Italian front plate and corner lights. It even has the 1973 US bumpers and roof mounted seat belts.
 
i'm sure it was a USA car bought in Europe, driven around so it could then be shipped to the USA with no issue. BMW used to do things like that.

According to the BMW archives, my 1970 2800CS is a USA model that "was delivered on August 25th, 1970 to a company named J.B.S. in Frankfurt/Main, probably for delivery to a US citizen temporarily living in Germany."
 
Decent looking coupe with some patina. Interesting that the $68,000 spent in restoration didn't include front seats. Certainly more photos are needed to expose the rust-vulnerable areas.
