Hi all,

I recently bought a beautiful 1973 3.0cs in Nachtblau Metallic an black leather interior.
I changed a couple of things on the car and I've come to the lights.
I don't know which lights the car should have.

So here are the questions:
The car has no interior lights (so it's completely dark when opening the door at night.) Is that normal? I have an electrical sunroof.
There is a little light next to the ignition lock that shines outward, what is this for?
There is no light in the trunk. Where should it be and where should the switch be?
How do i replace the lights inside the panel where you set the blower? I don't have AC or radio.

I know it's a lot but if anyone can answer some of these it would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Sunroof cars have their interior light in the headliner just above the driver's door glass.

The ignition light is so you can see the key hole at night, activated by pulling the main light switch on.

The trunk light is up under the parcel shelf/rear speaker deck in the trunk. It's mounted on the vertical section a couple inches below where it meets the shelf. Looks like the same light that is under the hood. The light is turned on by a switch mounted on the driver's side trunk support, the trunk arm hits the switch when closed.

I don't know about the panel lights as I don't think mine (usa model) has any.

May I suggest you Google "realOEM" and plug in your VIN /serial number . This will then enable you to click on '"Browse Parts " which will lead you to both Lighting and Electrical . Good luck. Cheers, Simon

Sorry, now realise you were not necessarily chasing parts . Stevehose has addressed most/ all of your queries . I think the "blower light" you are referring to is under the heater/ aircon section on RealOEM ...shows as NLA/"ended" but others might know if available as a generic type bulb .

Be sure the leading edge of each door has a deep plastic plug that contacts the dome light switch in the door jamb. The lights in the heater/vent panel may have been introduced after your coupe was built, my May 73 coupe has them, not easy to replace and they are tiny, one at each end. Side panels need to come off, four M6 bolts removed to slide that panel forward to get to bulbs.

Light location on RHD cars?????

Does anyone know if the light is on the right side of the interior on the right hand drive cars?? IF so, I wonder if the mounting 'brackets' might be there behind the headliner. If so, I'd be interested in snaking a wire over there to have a light on both sides.

Hopefully, some of our knowledgable Brit, Aussie, or Kiwi friends will chime in on this one!

Logic suggests it would be on the right side. Else a driver could not reach the light to sort out coins to pay for a toll at night. Logic has failed me before.

The interior light on mine (rhd) is on the left side of the car. Arde, we didn't have toll roads when these were built. The good old days.

Thanks everyone!

I have one more question. The light in the glovebox compartment. I have the light and the wiring is there. But I guess the previous owner removed the switch that turns off the light when the glovebox is closed.
I can't seem to find this switch. Also, the bracket where the switch is supposed to sit in, is also not there.

Can anyone help me with this?

there is a useful search function in this fórum, you might find yourself finding interesting things if you work there a bit:roll:
