1974 CS-CSi FS on Hemmings

At first glance this looks pretty sweet! Will be very interesting to see what it will fetch in todays market!

really curious why somebody would put a b35 head on a b34 engine. they are saying its 10:1 ... but was that before or after they put the b35 head on it as we all know the b35 head will drop the compression of the b34 engine.

this car was last on BaT in dec 2021 by Mark Starr and sold for 166.5k. in 2018 it was sold by seattlecoupe74 on BaT for 125k. i show it was owned by Scott Highland in Kent, WA in 2011. since we know that Paul Burke hasn't made cams for a while, we can only assume that the engine build is close to 10 years old

It does look like a really nice coupe. The photos don't show good definition of the style lines along the sides. Hope that means poor photography rather than lots of body filler.

in the half car pictures, you can see the style lines much better. but they aren't as sharp as they should be ... so whoever filled / sanded the car wasn't that attentive.

From my old records....

BMW 3.0 CS Automatic US # 4335378 was manufactured on September 26, 1974 and
delivered on October 10, 1974 to the American BMW importer Max Hoffman Motor
Corp. in New York City.

The original colour was Granat red metallic, paintcode 025.

Yours sincerely,

I used to own this one back in the day. It was repainted once before I got it (much better than how it looks today) and still had a dead stock original interior in it and ZERO rust. Came out of Burlingame, California with receipts dating back to 1986 I think. It still had the automatic in it and diving board bumpers.

I sold it to Scott Highland in 2011, who owns Smith Brothers Farms in the Seattle area, who dumped the bumpers and started the resto-mod. This is the one that got away from me, never should have let it go as it was such a clean well maintained original when I had it! I did replace the steering wheel with a SUPER clean 1974 wheel and rebuilt the carbs, but man, it would just run all day long even with the three speed. Yes, I know it's a '74 with the bumpers and the steering wheel and the automatic, but trust me, this one was not really a resto mod candidate when I had it. You all don't want to know how little I sold it for in 2011 and I am still kicking myself for doing so, but you cannot go back.

@Markos, please pick up the white courtesy telephone for the rest of the story....
